If you think you may be pregnant please make an appointment with the Health Care Assistant or Practice Nurse, who will discuss the options available. If you are pregnant you will be referred to the midwife an appointment will be arranged at the Chai Centre Ante-natal Clinic usually around the 10th week of pregnancy. At around 12 weeks you will receive an appointment for an ultrasound scan at Burnley General Hospital and follow up appointments at the Chai Centre and hospital Ante-natal Clinics. It is important that you attend your appointments.

You will be provided with patient-held records, which will have contact numbers for the Thursby Midwifery Team and the hospital. You should take these records to all your appointments including any appointments you may make at the surgery with the doctor or nurse. You will be able to discuss all aspects of your pregnancy and delivery with the midwife or you may contact the surgery if you need advice from a nurse or doctor or if you have a problem. After your baby is born you will be visited by the midwife and health visitor.
